Tasting Note
At one time I had a preference for the 1985 and 1986 over the 1982 Linch Bages.Ultimately, I think the 1989 will be the finest Lynch Bages of the eighties, but the 1982 has moved up to second place. It exhibits more density, fat, charm, and longevity than the 1985, and a sweeter, more compelling sexiness than the brawny 1986. There is some amber at the edje, but the 1982 displays the classic fat Pauillac character of a top-flight lynch Bages. Cedar, smoke, dried herbs, and glorious levels of black currant fruit are the hallmarks of this fleshy, low acid, full-bodied powerhouse. There are no hard edges in this seamless, mouth-staining offering. Drink it over the next 15-20 years.
