"The 2005 Barolo Riserva is a new wine made to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the estate's founding. Brovia draws on fruit from Rocche and Villero for this commemorative bottling. Sweet, beguiling aromatics lead to expressive fruit in a gracious, mid-weight Barolo. Sweet red cherries, tobacco, licorice and mint develop later, adding further dimensions of complexity. Always changing in the glass, the 2005 Riserva is going to be a fascinating Barolo to follow over the coming years. I don't think it has the sheer stuffing to be a super long-term ager, but time alone will have the last word on that front. Sadly, there are only 2,000 magnums to go around. "
