A very ripe and slightly grapey nose is almost liqueur-like with its notes of plum, cassis and black raspberry that are trimmed in just a touch of earth. The medium weight and very serious flavors are quite concentrated and fleshy with a suave and velvety mid-palate that contrasts with the dusty and solidly structured finish. This is an interesting wine in that typically wines that are aromatically somewhat grapey usually aren't what I would describe as serious yet this is quite firm, indeed even brooding. I would stop short of calling it very Pommard in character yet there is a mildly rustic component present. In any event this will please those who enjoy full-bodied and juicy burgundies. Note that this is sufficiently approachable already that it could be enjoyed young if desired.
